Answers about Shouts, Meetups, safety and your account.

About PONGE

What is PONGE?

PONGE is a community app for gay and LGBTQ+ people. You share what's happening around you with a Shout, join Meetups built around shared interests, and keep meeting people through those communities.

Is PONGE a dating app?

No. PONGE is built around communities and hobbies, not matching profiles. Some profile details, like position, are there as reference for smoother communication at community events, not for dating.

Who can use PONGE?

Adults aged 18 or older. Minors can't use PONGE, even with parental consent.

Is PONGE free?

Yes. PONGE is free to download and use.

Shout

What is a Shout?

A short post, up to 140 characters, for the people around you. Others can react, comment, and translate it if it's written in another language. Shouts can't contain links.

Can people see my exact location?

No. Others only see an approximate distance, like “Within 500m” or “Within 1km”. Your exact location stays hidden.

What do the reactions mean?

There are seven: Like, Haha, Fire, Wow, Sad, Cheer and Meh. You pick one per Shout, and you can change it any time.

Can I attach a Meetup to my Shout?

Yes. While writing a Shout, tap Link and choose a Meetup you lead or belong to. You can also attach a Service or Event you registered. People nearby see a card on your Shout and can open it with one tap.

Meetups & community

How do I join a Meetup?

Open the Meetup from a Shout or from Discover, read its rules, and tap Agree and request to join. The leader or organizers review your request. If a member invited you, you join right away without approval.

What can I do once I'm a member?

You can read and post on the board (notices, introductions, free talk and feedback), see photos and the schedule, and talk with everyone in the Meetup chat.

What's the difference between impromptu and regular meets?

Both live on a Meetup's schedule. An impromptu gathering is a one-off, often for the same day. A regular meet repeats, like every Saturday morning.

Who sees my profile when I join?

When you request to join, the leader and organizers see your request and your public PONGE profile. Once you're a member, other members can see the same profile.

Does a Meetup show where its members live?

No. A Meetup stores no exact address. Only its country and main region are shown.

Do I pay PONGE for Meetups?

No. If a gathering has a fee, it belongs to that schedule and is informational. PONGE doesn't bill or collect it.

Can I start my own Meetup?

Yes. As the leader you write the rules, choose whether people join with your approval or right away, and invite organizers to help run it.

Safety & privacy

How do I report or block someone?

To report, choose Report from the ⋯ menu on a profile, Shout, comment or Meetup. To block, choose Block from the ⋯ menu on a profile or Shout. Reporters are never identified to the person they report.

What happens when I block someone?

Blocking works both ways across Shouts, messages and notifications. Neither of you will see the other.

How is my personal information handled?

See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Account

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to the Profile menu and select Delete Account, then follow the steps. Deleting your account permanently removes your data and can't be undone. See the steps.
